Vanlife TV Update: What have I been doing?

Its been a while since I have posted a new video, or even written a blog post, and there’s a few reasons for that.

Firstly, I have been busy just getting on with life, working, hanging out with friends etc and have never found the time to sit down and make a video.

Secondly, I have also had some stuff going on in my life, which is not going to make it into this blog post – private it shall stay!

Snowdonia

I have spent some time in Snowdonia in North Wales, mountain biking, wild swimming and walking. I managed to find a great place to stay overnight in the van. It was quiet and secluded, had a toilet next to the car park, and it had a 4G signal so I could work from the van! This was the view I woke up to every morning.

I have also spent a lot of time with friends, including many parties in and around the van where copious amounts of cider have been drunk. The downsides to this is the van ends up in a right mess. Trying to clean everything up with a hangover the next morning is always a chore! haha I should learn from this, but I never do!

Mountain Biking

Mountain biking, lots and lots of mountain biking has been on the agenda. I lost count of the miles I have been in the saddle over the past few months. I hit up a lot of trails at the Coed Y Brenin centre in north Wales, and have been out more locally in Devon too.

Had a number of little accidents, and one major one, which resulted in me having to buy a new helmet. The old one had to be junked as it did its job and protected my head from a tree that just happened to get in my way whilst falling off the bike at speed! haha

But it hasn’t all been fun. I have had to do some work too, so I have been busy developing websites for myself and other people. Being able to work from the van is a real bonus, as long as I have 3G or 4G signal I can get some work done.

The photo below shows how I work in the van with the laptop – cider to hand, and window open! I usually work in the evenings, so I can do my own thing during the day!

The gearbox broke!

The van was off the road for a while due to having some gearbox work done. The gearbox had started to whine in 5th and 6th gear, so the whole gearbox had to be removed.

As it turned out, the bearings on the gears needed replacing. I opted to have a new clutch put in at the same time as it made sense to do it while the gearbox was removed. The bill came to just shy of £1200, so the old bank balance took a bit of a hit – but it needed to be done, and Im pleased the van is now back on the road.

So that about wraps up a little bit of what I have been up to. I will try and keep on top of new videos and blog posts, but sometimes life just gets in the way! If you have any questions or comments, but them in the comments section below!
