Replacing top & bottom ball joints on a VW T4 Transporter
Bank holiday Monday saw the ball joints being replaced on my van, a job that was long overdue. The passenger side had been squeaking and knocking for a month or 2, and with the MOT coming up in July, it was time to get them changed on both sides of the van.
I had read that changing both the top and bottom ball joints can be a pig of a job. So I had a little look around, and found a guy which would supply and fit the ball joints for £215, and he will come to you to do it!
So I booked myself in with Simon Coles from SC VW Customs, who are based out of Bristol, and on bank holiday Monday he came down and changed the ball joints in a few hours. The front end of the van has been transformed, no more squeaking, no more knocking – just a feeling of a tight front end that doesn’t sound like its going to fall apart at any moment.
I didn’t actually film any of the work being done, but I did take some photos, and I have put a few of them below so you can take a look.
Hi what type of ball joints did you use?
